Local Woman Gets Real

The Power Of Style

Local Woman “Gets Real” about Fashion

Calgary, AB –Do you think that fashion is only for the young and thin? Do you know what styles are flattering on you, and which to veer away from? Do you know how to get the most sought after accessories for free? Are you in a style rut? Local image consultant Jackie Hickson is launching a business geared at the everyday woman, to help her look and feel her best.

“Think of it as Calgary’s very own What Not To Wear,” jokes Hickson about her Power of Style business “but maybe a little more sympathetic and realistic.” Hickson’s goal is to make women – whether she’s a preteen or a plus size – to dress with confidence everyday – no matter what her budget. “It doesn’t matter if she wants to spend $10 or $100 on a tee shirt, I’m here to make sure that it’s the right tee for her.”  By analyzing a woman’s body shape, Hickson and the client determine which area’s to highlight, and which areas to minimize. Hickson will then recommend which cuts, shapes and styles a client should look for when shopping – and she’ll even shop along with her!

Hickson also has her fashionable “black belt” in accessorizing and has incorporated the celebrity coveted jewelry company “Stella and Dot” as part of her Power of Style business. “This line of luxe jewelry is perfect for what I do” states Hickson, “plus, it’s reasonably priced, one of a kind and totally on trend – my customers just can’t seem to get enough of it!” In fact, Hickson offers free jewelry and a huge discounts for those clients who bring a few girlfriends along to shop Stella and Dot – at her place or theirs! And for those who just want the convenience to shop on there own time when the mood strikes, Hickson encourages gals to check out her website www.stelladot.com/jackiehickson, which touts a speedy 4 day delivery on all orders (perfect for getting the must have accessory or gift quicker than planning a trip to mall)!

As for Hickson, style has always been her calling card – she’s been working in the fashion industry for over 23 years, starting out in retail and then moving on into direct sales. “Direct sales is where I really developed my passion for working with women,” she admits, “I just love knowing that I’ve given someone that extra boost of self-esteem because they know that they look amazing, and that they can now shop with confidence knowing what to look for. It’s very satisfying.” After battling cancer for the second time, Hickson decided that she wanted to “do something that made her smile each and every day.” She decided to fuel her passion for style by offering wardrobe and fashion expertise to help women look and feel great - no matter what their age, shape or size. If it’s any indication as to how things are going, Hickson is already looking to expand her fashionable business and is on the search for Stylists to sell the Stella and Dot jewelry collection alongside her.

But The Power of Style is not just for those in dire need of a fashion overhaul. “I get calls all the time from women in last minute wardrobe situations…and just need someone to work through a wardrobe conundrum with. I also will come over and go through their closet with them – coming up with new outfits and combinations- it’s called the Shop Your Closet workshop. Or sometimes all a women needs is just a few accessories to keep her look fresh and to stay current – and that’s when the Stella and Dot collection comes to the rescue. It’s so true that by changing up the accessories you can change the look of an outfit – it actually is quite an economical way to update your wardrobe. It’s really whatever fashion needs a client has – I’m there!” And you can bet she will be – just listen for the click of her fashionable stilettos.

How do you define your style?

Style is more than how you dress and what size the tag says.
Style is determined by your confidence, your inner beauty, how you carry yourself, your morals, your fashion personality, how you CHOOSE to live your life and how you give back.

So....how do you define your style?
